What the ephedra and caffeine studies tested

Neither study below tested EPH 100. Both used other products, at other doses.

Boozer and colleagues published their trial in the International Journal of Obesity in 2002. It ran six months. It was randomized, double-blind and placebo controlled. 167 people took part. 83 got the herbal supplement and 84 got placebo. The supplement was a Ma Huang and Kola nut product. The daily dose was 90mg of ephedrine alkaloids and 192mg of caffeine. The group's average BMI was 31.8.

From the abstract: "Herbal treatment produced small changes in blood pressure variables (+3 to -5 mm Hg, P< or =0.05), and increased heart rate (4+/-9 vs. -3+/-9 bpm, P<0.001), but cardiac arrhythmias were not increased (P>0.05). By self-report, dry mouth (P<0.01), heartburn (P<0.05), and insomnia (P<0.01) were increased and diarrhea decreased (P<0.05). Irritability, nausea, chest pain and palpitations did not differ, nor did numbers of subjects who withdrew."

The Greenway paper is from Obesity Research, 2004. From its abstract: "In phase I, 12 healthy subjects with a BMI of 25 to 35 kg/m2 had resting metabolic rate (RMR) measured for 2 hours after ingesting C&E or a placebo on two occasions 1 week apart". The same abstract defines C&E as "a dietary supplement containing herbal caffeine (70 mg/dose) and ephedra (24 mg/dose; C&E)".

It goes on: "In phase II, these 12 and 28 additional subjects were randomized to a 12-week, double-blind trial comparing C&E (3 times/day) to placebo. In phase III, the C&E group was given open-label C&E for 3 months, and the placebo group was given C&E for 6 months." Its results section ends on this line: "There were no serious adverse events."

Great thermogenic that is strong and gives you alot of energy. Not for those who don't want alot of caffeine as it can make you a little jittery but I don't drink caffeine or energy drinks so this works for me.
